Aug. 29, 2023: Fox files response to claims about rule violations

On August 29, 2023, Fox Television Stations filed a response to the FCC, disputing what it said were several inaccurate accusations about FCC rule violations made in MAD’s Aug 22 submission.

In this filing, Fox presents evidence disputing MAD statements such as that on several occasions the broadcast station did not maintain its online public-inspection file in accord with FCC rules and that the station’s public files on political advertising also contain errors, particularly files uploaded late for FCC deadlines.

“MAD attempts to distract from Fox 29 Philadelphia’s record of service by suggesting falsely that Fox 29 Philadelphia has not maintained an up-to-date public file and accusing FTS of making a ‘false certification’ in its license renewal application,” says the filing. “It is distressing that MAD resorted to such a claim when a simple review of FCC records reveals the inaccuracy of MAD’s accusations.”

MAD filed a rebuttal defending their claims, on Sept. 11, to which Fox has not responded.
