I think it's best to regard folks like O'Keefe as performers. Ed was performing the role of journalist in that segment, not acting AS a journalist. He should be aware enough of politicians and their stances to know that what Cotton said about Harris' positions on guns and gas-fueled cars were absolute lies. His choice in that moment was to give Cotton credit for 'calling Harris out', aping the dumb pundit-class talking point, once again created for them by the GOP, that Harris hasn't done any pressers (she just took questions from reporters today) and then tell Cotton he'd done a "pretty decent job" of summing up Harris' positions when, in fact, Cotton hadn't done a good job at all and had just lied to Ed's face. Just abominable non-journalism that is a total disservice to his purported role of informing the public.
O'Keefe has been particularly bad this election cycle - has he always been that way? It feels like he has a chip on his shoulder with Biden/Harris.
