July 13, 2023: Media Action Center filed with FCC in support of petition

On July 13, 2023, Sue Wilson, of the Media Action Center (MAC), wrote the FCC objecting to the Fox WTXF license renewal and in support of the MAD petition.

MAC is a citizen’s volunteer group that supports restoring a strong public-interest requirement for broadcast media.

“Broadcasters do not own the airwaves, which belong collectively to the people of this country. Licenses are granted under the condition that broadcasters serve ‘the public interest,’” Wilson’s MAC letter notes. “It is not the marketplace, but the interests of the people that should determine what is broadcast. Fox has failed in its duty to put the interests of the people it serves above its corporate profits.”

“MAC urges the FCC to promptly act on the petition to deny” and call a hearing on Fox’s application for license renewal, the letter concludes.
