July 6, 2023: Dan Ladden Hall of The Daily Beast reported on the MAD filing

Key to MAD’s effort is its argument that “the intentional distortion of news, authorized at the highest levels of Fox’s corporate structure, and fabricated by management and on-air personalities, represents a severe breach of the FCC’s policy on licensee character qualifications,” Hall wrote in his article, “’Landmark’ Bid Filed to Take Fox Station Off the Air for Election Lies.”

The petition further argues that “paying a settlement of nearly $1 Billion” on Dominion Voting Systems’ claim that Fox entities defamed them with knowing lies “is tantamount to a guilty conviction," Hall reported.

For its part, wrote Hall, a Fox Television Stations IFTS) statement describes the MAD petition as “frivolous, completely without merit, [asking] the FCC to upend the First Amendment and long-standing FCC precedent,” since WTXF-TV “is one of the finest local news stations in the country, broadcasting over 60 hours of local news and locally produced programming every week,”
