Oct. 20, 2023: MAD filed to rebut Fox arguments opposing document request
On October 20, 2023, MAD reiterated its request for the FCC to compel Fox to turn over nonpublic documents from court cases and rebutted Fox’s October 16 filing, opposing the document request.
“MAD has shown good cause for grant of the Motion,” the filing says. “Fox’s knowing and willful promotion of false election narratives and the dire consequences for the country call into serious question its character qualifications as a Commission broadcast licensee.”
For this reason, “MAD believes that a thorough examination of the case to determine whether Fox is qualified to hold a broadcast license on character grounds – requires more documentation than the currently public records provide….Allowing access to the nonpublic depositions, emails and other documents germane to the litigation could go a long way to reinforcing, or at least elucidating, what the publicly available material establishes.”
